Flying vs Autonomous Vehicles | KERB

We’re on the cusp of a transportation revolution. Within the next few years, we’re going to see the debut of autonomous vehicles and flying vehicles. But which one will come first? And why? In this blog post, we’ll explore the pros and cons of each type of vehicle and make a case for which one is more likely to hit the roads (or skies) first. Ready? Let’s get started!

Autonomous Vehicles

The Pros

There are a lot of reasons to be excited about autonomous vehicles. First and foremost, they have the potential to drastically reduce the number of accidents on our roads. That’s because human error is responsible for 94% of all car accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. With autonomous vehicles, we can eliminate many of those accidents by giving control of the vehicle to a computer that can react faster than a human driver and make split-second decisions.

What’s more, autonomous vehicles could also help ease traffic congestion. That’s because they can be programmed to drive closer together (without fear of collision), thus allowing more cars to fit on our roads at any given time. This could potentially help shorten commute times for millions of people around the world.

Last but not least, autonomous vehicles would give seniors and people with disabilities greater independence by allowing them to stay behind the wheel longer (or driving for them altogether).

The Cons

Of course, there are also some downsides to autonomous vehicles. For starters, they could put a lot of people out of work. After all, if computers are doing the driving, we won’t need nearly as many taxi drivers, Uber drivers, truck drivers, etc. That could lead to mass unemployment and social unrest. Additionally, hackers could theoretically take control of an autonomous vehicle and use it as a weapon against its passengers or other motorists.

Flying Vehicles

The Pros

Flying vehicles also have a lot going for them. First off, they could help reduce traffic congestion on our roads by giving commuters another way to get from Point A to Point B. They would also allow us to bypass obstacles like traffic jams and construction zones entirely. Plus, flying vehicles would give us a whole new perspective on life—literally! Just imagine being able to fly above everything on your way to work in the morning. Talk about a way to start your day off on the right foot!

The Cons

However, there are some potential drawbacks to flying cars as well. For one thing, they would require an entirely new infrastructure—one that could support both road-based travel and air-based travel. What’s more, flying cars would produce a significant amount of noise pollution (think aircraft engines combined with car horns). And then there’s the question of safety—would you feel comfortable getting into a flying car knowing that one mechanical failure could send you hurtling toward the ground?

So...Which One Will Come First?

So which type of vehicle is more likely to come first—autonomous cars or flying cars? It’s tough to say for sure. But if we had to guess, we’d say autonomous cars are slightly more likely to come first since they wouldn’t require such drastic changes to our existing infrastructure (e..g., no need for landing strips). However, it’s worth noting that both types of vehicles face significant challenges before they can become mainstream—so don’t expect either one on your local streets en masse anytime soon!
