A letter from our CEO

What began in 2016 as a mobile app to optimize under-utilized parking spaces in residential properties across the world, has today become a broader movement in mobility and IoT. KERB is improving the way drivers get from A to B in your city today; it has the potential to completely transform the way we move around in the smart cities of tomorrow. Access to every type of parking space via a single app on your phone is just the starting point.

The kerbside captures so much of life and humanity in cities big and small. Over half of the world’s eight billion people step onto or step off a kerb close to where they live, work, play or pray – every single day of the week. People park cars, motorbikes, scooters, bicycles, taxis, trucks, tuk-tuks and rickshaws by the kerb, but they also use the kerb to charge electric vehicles, to drop off parcels, deliver food or collect shopping. Hundreds of millions of people worldwide use the kerb to conduct their business; many millions also live – and die – by the kerb. The kerbside represents the soul of a city and KERB will unlock and enable that soul through its technology platform and global partnerships.

In the smart cities of tomorrow, the kerbside will be connected to sensors and apps and vehicles and open-data services, which will make moving across a city easier. The kerb will tell drivers when and where parking is available; and will know when your vehicle arrives and leaves. It will tell you for how long you have charged your electric car, and where to pick up your laundry, your parcel or an available car share.

The data and services the kerbside delivers will open up new technology consolidation, system integrations and a new world of collaboration. KERB will grow an ecosystem of existing and new stakeholders to optimize and monetize new services and data. This will serve airports, corporate real estate, retail, commercial car parks and more. For cities, this new ecosystem will reduce pollution, traffic congestion and drive more sustainability.

KERB is on a mission to activate the kerbside, and to unlock parking spaces and mobility services in downtown and in the suburbs of every major city in the developed world, and the developing world. Our goal is to join the dots on all the possibilities that the kerb in a street in America, Africa, Asia or Europe represents. Today, KERB is a smart parking and mobility app for drivers and a car park enablement technology for building managers. Tomorrow it will be a mobility marketplace that transforms the way we move through cities, venues and buildings.

If you are a driver of any type of vehicle that needs to park, you can download KERB from the app store and give it a try. (You can even do your bit for your city, by letting drivers book your own private parking space while you’re not using it.) If you are a commercial or residential landlord, property manager, or a government representative, and are looking for ways to enable smarter parking, EV charging or last-mile mobility services, we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for taking the time to consider how KERB can improve mobility in your life, and in your city.
